I got a package...

...and I am very happy to say that I have been accepting into nursing school!! (note to self: plan celebration night out - ASAP!! ) I am one big step closer to my new career as a nurse. Of course this was one easy hurdle out of many difficult ones to come. But as long as these feelings of excitement keep drowning out the nervous ones, I should be just fine. It's a good trade off.

Sooooo, now I'll begin working on completing the items on my list of things to get done by June. I have to get fingerprinted, get a background check done, take a CPR course, get a physical, get up to date on my vaccinations (ugh, I'm dreading the shots) and fill out some other paperwork. I have until the end of June so I have plenty of time. Until then I will keep on tackling my other list of lifes daily chores.

The waiting game

Lately I've been reading blogs, specifically nurses blogs, and they have given me the motivation to start my own. So for anyone reading this ...welcome to my blog. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I'll enjoy writing it. Mostly this will be a form of therapy for me (as most blogs are) but I hope I can provide some insight to others just starting to pursue a career in nursing.

The trials and tribulations of Nursing Novice starts here...

My pre-reqs are done and I aced my last few classes - woohoo! I have a really good GPA and I did good on my NET. Last week I turned in my application and now the 4-6 wk waiting game begins. I just have to be 1 out of 100 to get accepted. That's all? Piece of cake! I'll be anxiously coming home everyday to walk through the door, quickly kiss and hug my 2 sweet smiling little ones and then run to the spot on the kitchen counter where my hubby puts the mail.

So why nursing? Well, lets see... I think it all started when I asked my parents for a microsope for my birthday when I was about 12 years old. Science was my favorite subject in school. I am a research junkie for anything medically related. I am a hard sci-fi fan. My favorite shows are Trauma-Life in the ER, House, Dexter, and just recently - Autopsy. When I used to work in the hotel industry, the thing I liked most was helping people and talking to people from different places. I like to work independantly while still being part of a team. Oh and I get bored easily. I think that pretty much sums it up. I'll guess I will find out soon enough if I have what it takes to be a good nurse.
